Yogis throughout New York State are pouring intention into establishing a home base that is strong, flexible and clear. All the committees are staffed by volunteers. To get started, just tell us what you want to do!

Executive Committee

Our executive committee oversees the direction of the group and coordinates the activities of all other committees.

Political/PR Committee

This committee’s job is to develop messages for state officials and media and organize a grassroots action network to deliver those messages. This committee will also oversee development of the Yoga for NY website.


Membership and Marketing Committee

This committee’s job is to recruit and integrate new members and to gather information about our membership and its specific needs.

Legal Committee

This committee’s job is to arrange and oversee coordinated legal representation for the organization (including researching potential bases for court challenge, drafting legislation, and representing Yoga for NY in any negotiations with NYSED.)

Standards Committee

This committee’s job is to foster informed discussion of the standards issue within the yoga community and to advise Yoga for NY as to what curriculum standards the state should choose, if it insists on establishing such standards.

Fundraising Committee

This committee’s first job is to raise $40,000 through a special Legal Fund campaign. More projects to come!

Five minutes is all it takes to help get the message to government officials.

Yoga for New York maintains constant awareness of the people whose decisions will affect the New York yoga community – and our ability to continue spreading well being to all.

When it comes time to deliver our message, numbers count! Please let us know that you are ready and able to devote five minutes to making a call to your elected representative or another key leader. Notices go out by email and are carefully crafted to be easy and effective.
