Yoga for NY Awareness Week

  • Studios statewide

Mark your calendars for Yoga for New York's Awareness Week! Our goal is to educate the public about the issue, and raise funds for our legislative Advocacy Fund.

Government regulation would cost teacher training programs a minimum of $5,000. This threat has already driven some studios away from training teachers. We must get our bills exempting yoga passed.

Each student and studio can choose how to participate. Some ideas:

  • Print out membership forms, or display a laptop letting students join Yoga for NY online
  • Print  out our petition and post so students and friends can sign to get our legislation protecting yoga from regulation passed in Albany.
  • Post our poster, and put out a donation jar
  • Donate the proceeds from one class, event, day, or boutique item to the Advocacy Fund
  • Get sun salutations sponsored by friends and colleagues. They pledge a dollar, a quarter, even a nickel per Surya Namaskar, and you try to do 108. Practice solo, or host a jam at your studio.
  • Order Yoga for NY tshirts and sell them for any price above our cost
Send us YOUR good ideas, and we'll pass them on to other yoga studios and teachers. Let's make this happen!
